Unearth’s Derek Kerswill Goes on ‘Tangent’ With Non-Metal Side Project

The ever multi-tasking Derek Kerswill of Unearth (and formerly of Shadows Fall) has always kept his hands in a lot of musical pies, so to speak. The talented drummer is currently immersed in a non-metal side project, dubbed Tangents. "It's literally myself and one other dude ... the whole project," Kerswill told Noisecreep, all the way from an overseas tour with Unearth. We meant it when we said Kerswill never stops working!

Tangents certainly aren't a traditional outfit, by any means. "We have no band. We are just trying to make the best and most genuine music possible," Kerswill said. "This is definitely the project I have dreamed of being involved in."

As for how he is able to manage so many different endeavors at once, Kerswill said, "Although it gets difficult juggling my multiple projects, they are all fulfilling in some way, shape or form and the time that I put into them makes it beyond worth it. Tangents is 150 percent me, though."
