Two people have been hospitalized after sustaining injuries at a Cattle Decapitation show in La Habra, Calif. After a concertgoer snuck a knife into the gig, 30-year-old Adam Merrill allegedly slashed one fan after becoming frustrated with being pushed around in the pit.

According to a NBCLA report, the incident occurred at around 11:30pm at the La Habra 13th Frame Lounge. Merrill reportedly slashed the fan on the side of the neck in the middle of the pit. After the attack, other concertgoers attacked Merrill, ganging up on him and knocking him unconscious. This caused both Merrill and the slashing victim to be transported to the hospital.

Cattle Decapitation were forced to cut their set short (while performing a new song, no less) due to the slashing, as the venue had officially become a crime scene. The announcement was caught on tape:

Suicide Silence drummer Alex Lopez was one of the roughly 150 in attendance at the Cattle Decapitation gig. Lopez tweeted about the slashing early this morning (Jan. 8):

Once Merrill is released from the hospital, police plan to charge the man with assault with a deadly weapon.

We'd like to send our best wishes to the slashing victim and we hope for a speedy recovery.
