Tool Singer Comments on Next Album, Sebastian Bach on Skid Row Reunion + More News
There won’t be a Tool album this year, it seems. Singer Maynard James Kennan told Chile’s Radio Futuro the following when asked about the status: “No new disc. Not this year…I have not written any songs. So no, there is nothing.” Perhaps he was trying to throw fans off the scent and foster the elements of surprise and suspense? [Blabbermouth]
Sebastian Bach would love to rejoin Skid Row. The singer has said he was more interested in his solo career, but he seems to have had a change of heart and has changed his tune, which he is well within his rights to do. It’s his ex-bandmates that don’t seem to want to welcome Bas back with open arms. “It would be very simple,” the singer said. “It’s like a no-brainer. I mean I make my living still singing those songs along with my solo material and so it’s very easy for me to walk up to the microphone and sing my own songs that I’ve been singing for 25 years. So I don’t see what the hold-up is. You’d have to ask them.” [VH1 Classic Radio]

Spotify is cranking the decibels with several metal apps. The new Metal Hammer app curates specialty playlists, including Killer Covers, 1980 and Pantera Ultimate Playlist. Alexander Milas, editor of Metal Hammer, said, “The way that metal fans connect with music may be changing, but their passion for it never has. Metal Hammer‘s been helping fans connect since 1986, and with Spotify we’re bringing it into the 21st century. Turn it up.” Additionally, Century Media’s official app, Metal of the Century, features personally curated and continually updated playlists from artists, including Anders Friden (In Flames), Greg Mackintosh (Paradise Lost) and Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil). In addition, each label of the Century Media family gets its own section where users can check out the best in new releases and browse through news stories and tour dates.
