Tool's Maynard James Keenan was just presented with his purple belt in jiu jitsu, but it may be a little bit before he can start his progress toward a brown belt. The rocker just posted a photo online with the revelation that he has just undergone full hip replacement surgery on his right hip.

Keenan accompanied the photo with an explanation on the Puscifer Facebook page. It states, "Didn't want to freak anyone out. Wanted to wait until out of the woods. Years of foot stomping left me with no cushion in my right hip. Full replacement yesterday. Walking today." The photo can be seen below.

And yes, Keenan is chomping at the bit to continue his jiu jitsu pursuits, revealing in the post, "12 weeks, back on the mat to work toward the brown belt."

Keenan also has that little thing called music he can use to fill his downtime. He's been working on a new Puscifer album for release later this year and there's the matter of Tool, who have been progressing toward a new album, as well.
