Elaborate imagery and dramatic piano parts are what make European gothic metal an ever-appreciated genre. Norwegian sextet Theatre of Tragedy just released 'Forever Is the World' on Germany's AFM Records, and it's revived their old fan base as well as magnetized new listeners.

Founding member and drummer Hein Frode Hansen spoke with Brave Words & Bare Knuckles about the hopes and expectations surrounding the band's new record.

"The new songs sound like they're going back to the old Theatre Of Tragedy style," Hansen told Brave Words. "Without actually having any rules we incorporated a lot of stuff from the different styles we've had."

The band's identity has evolved over the last fifteen years, and with its lineup changes and rumored end, the interview sheds a great deal of light on the band's dedication to finding the right chemistry that allowed them to put together an impeccable album. Call it a comeback, if you will.
