The Tired and True

Killer Song Lyrics: I'm a little down this time of year / Suppose I could stand up and face my fears but I'll just bleed out right here on the floor instead

"Even the smallest of things can make you feel absolutely worthless," vocalist and guitarist Kurt Zikaras of the Tired and True told Noisecreep, "Whether it be some stupid girl, your friends being unloyal jerks or creditors trying their hardest to ruin your day. It sucks, but unfortunately it's a part of life."

The Connecticut punk rock band's debut album on Eulogy Recordings, 'Scenarios,' offers lyrics in the great punk rock tradition of dealing with the trials that come hand-in-hand with early adulthood. For Zikaras, the particular struggle mentioned in the song ''99' took the form of a former relationship with a girl.

"This particular song is about some dumb girl who ruined me," Sikaris explained further. "The verses kind of explain the misery and how I felt inadequate as a person because of her. The choruses sort of open up and sound almost hopeful, but it's more of a daydream sort of hopeful and not so much a realistic one."

Zakaris knows that the lyrics might be taken differently by the Tired and True's fans. "When the gang chants come in at the end of the song, it's basically just a big 'F you' to whoever's causing this misery you're in," he said. "The song means one thing to me, but I feel it can mean thousands of different things to any of these dudes jumping on stage with me and singing the words."

''99' was recorded and included on among the other 'Scenarios' tracks as an afterthought. "This seems to be one of the songs the kids get really amped on live," Zikaris said. "The words 'this is the last time I'll feel like nothing, because I am something' seem to speak to a lot of people, and I think a lot of kids can relate to this song because it's basically about feeling miserable."

The Tired and True have some tour dates scheduled in July to support 'Scenarios.'
