The Scarlet Ending, ‘My War’ – Exclusive Song Premiere

Kevin Mazur

Noisecreep has partnered with The Scarlet Ending to premiere the song “My War,” the new single from their EP, The Things You Used to Own, which drops on Aug. 14. It’s noisy (in a good way) hard rock with discordant riffing, thunderous percussion and pretty piano melodies to temper the mix. That’s all anchored by the strong, assertive vocals of Kayleigh Goldsworthy and her identical twin sister Kaleena.

“It’s about struggle, not one specific instance, but an overarching theme,” Kayleigh Goldsworthy told Noisecreep about the song and its inspiration. “While writing ‘My War,’ I’d moved to Brooklyn but was still going back and forth to Syracuse for rehearsals, shows and recording. It was all really stressful. I think the weight of working so hard for 12 years was really starting to wear on me and the song is me trying to figure out how to maintain some control while so much around me is changing. The feeling that creates is vulnerability and paranoia, so it was very easy to allude to the victim/bully relationship; the battle of who and what is right and wrong.”

We’ve all been through a similar feeling. So next time you need a cathartic song to help you through those events and experiences, crank this!
