The Ratt Interview — ”Creep Show’

After an absence of more than a decade, Sunset Strip pioneers Ratt are back with vocalist Stephen Pearcy and hoping to tear up the scene once again. They recently released ‘Infestation,’ their first album since 1999’s ill-fated ‘Ratt’ — and it’s the heaviest and angriest they’ve sounded since 1984’s career-launching ‘Out of the Cellar,’ which featured the radio hit ‘Round and Round.’

‘Infestation’ was produced by Elvis Baskette (Chevelle, Alter Bridge) at his Virginia studio and features a solid set of knuckle-busters and panty-wetters, including the single ‘Best of Me,’ ‘Eat Me Up Alive’ and ‘As Good as it Gets.’ Ratt are currently on tour for the record, playing four or five songs from the new album every night as well as the catalog-spanning variety of hits like ‘Wanted Man,’ ‘Back for More,’ ‘You’re in Love’ and ‘Lay It Down.’ Dates are scheduled through Sept. 4 in El Paso, Texas.

RattThe afternoon of their sold out show in New York City, guitarists Warren DeMartini and Carlos Cavazo (ex-Quiet Riot) stopped by ”Creep Show’ central to talk about Ratt’s reemergence from the cellar, why the new album sounds so raw, what obstacles they confronted during its creation, how they overcame their personal differences from the past and what the worst infestations are that they’ve ever had (besides crabs).

You can also check out our premiere of Ratt’s ‘Best of Me’ video, which was directed by Andrew Bennett.
