The Devil Wears Prada

The Devil Wears Prada are currently ass-deep on a tour that sees them alternating between large capacity -- like 25,000 people -- venues and sweaty clubs that barely house 200 kids. And now they're about to do something totally new to them: release an EP.

Their first-ever EP, 'Zombies,' will be released via Ferret on Aug. 24. It's available for pre-order now and was inspired by the band's obsession with the undead.

"The whole thing is just completely based upon zombies," explained TDWP's frontman Mike Hranica in a statement. "Last fall, I was on a real zombie kick. I read 'The Zombie Survival Guide' by Max Brooks, and I thought, 'What if we made a zombie song?' All it took was me just saying that to the band, and we had our hearts set on doing this EP."

Noisecreep would love to offer you a sneak peak into what makes up 'Zombies,' which obviously has a unifying thread and theme of the dead walking the earth as zombies! It is reportedly an extremely heavy record that includes songs like 'Survivor,' which follows the plight of a man who loses his beloved to the undead and ultimately spends his days warding off the brain-starved and loneliness. The story continues to unfold with the tracks 'Outnumbered,' 'Escape,' 'Revive' and 'Anatomy.'

The other new element to the EP is that the band has foregone the jokey 'wink wink, nudge nudge' titles in favor of more straightforward, descriptive ones that actually relate to lyrical subject matter, which isn't something TDWP or bands of their ilk are known for.

Guitarist/vocalist Jeremy DePoyster pointed out that the EP positions TDWP at their fastest, which should please their throng of long-term fans. "It's going to be sick," said DePoyster. "It's us, but it's more Hatebreed-influenced and just straight-up thrash metal-influenced with some serious Slayer riffs." Hatebreed plus Slayer plus TDWP? If you did not head over the pre-order yet, what are you waiting for?
