The Angels Bassist Chris Bailey Battling Aggressive Form of Cancer
Bailey is stepping down from the band so he can attend to his disease and undergo more chemotherapy treatments. The news comes mere days after onetime frontman Doc Neeson, who left the band a few years ago to pursue a solo career, shared the news that he has a brain tumor.
The group was formed by brothers Rick and John Brewster several decades ago. Now, John’s son Sam Brewster, who stepped in to play bass for Bailey when he wasn’t feeling well, will continue to do so. Bailey has been an on-off member of the group since he joined all the way back in 1976. He eventually left in 1982 and then mounted a comeback and returned in 2002.
Bailey’s previous cancer battle was not a secret in the music industry but the official announcement was made to fans today.
