Amity Affliction

Australia's the Amity Affliction have done their hard rock homework. The band has mastered the quiet-loud, clean-scream style of memorable metal and Noisecreep is proud to premiere the new song 'I Hate Hartley' from their new album 'Youngbloods.' The song was actually a bit of a mental kick start for the band, who were homesick for Oz while recording in New Jersey.

"To date it's both the heaviest and most positive song we've ever released," Joel Birch, vocalist, told Noisecreep. "We released before we'd finished even tracking vocals for the album, and we still remember the first time Machine played us the mix. It was like collective spine chill. At the time, we were all feeling really exhausted and homesick, and it helped give us the motivation to push through it all for the rest of the record."

Birch explained a little about the 'heart' reference in the song and who the hell Hartley is, saying, "The name of the track is a follow-up to track one off our last two records, 'I Heart Throbsy' and 'I Heart Roberts.' Hartley comes on all our tours and came to New Jersey to record with us. He stinks, has a huge beard and is basically a filthy, filthy man. So we decided he deserves a little recognition for that." But in all seriousness, Birch said, "This song is about a point in time in my life where I felt I was at the end of my tether with everything."

Birch finished, "I'd f---ed up a lot and couldn't see a way to make things better. But my close friends really stood by me and helped me turn everything around. It's definitely a theme on the album. This band and my friends in it have given me so much hope, and we really wanted to encourage kids to see things in a more positive way, no matter how hard life can be."
