Drummer Mike Portnoy left Dream Theater a few years ago, but in a recent interview said he'd be open to rejoining the band. Now, in an interview with Chile's Radio Futura, the same outlet that Portnoy gave his comments to, DT singer James LaBrie seemed to shut the door on a reunion (quotes via Blabbermouth).

It's safe to say that with drummer Mike Mangini firmly installed behind the kit and appearing on his second album, prog icons Dream Theater have moved on from former skinsman and band co-founder Mike Portnoy, who left the band in 2010 amid fill-in work for Avenged Sevenfold and a request for a break. But how does Portnoy really feel about a possible return to the band?

Jordan Rudess, keyboardist for Dream Theater, announced some important updates for his music apps, Samplewiz, Morphwiz and Geo Synthesizer. All three apps are now compatible with AudioBus and work on the iPhone 5. The AudioBus update is especially significant because it allows users to stream live audio between apps so multiple apps can be in use at once.

Dream Theater keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire Jordan Rudess has released a brand-new iOS ear training app entitled, 'EarWizard'. Rudess teamed up with developer Felipe Peña to create an app that trains and improves memory through musical sequences, which results in a stronger ability to instantly recognize chords and notes.

Dream Theater are inching one step closer to their new album by revealing the disc's track listing and artwork. The collection is currently on the schedule for a Sept. 24 release via Roadrunner Records.

Dream Theater have been holed away for much of the year working on a new record, but the veteran band has emerged from the studio and they're beginning to lay out the promotion of their next record. Even though the self-titled disc is due Sept. 24, it looks as though we may not see the band on the concert stage until 2014.

It may be hard to believe, but Dream Theater have yet to use their own moniker to title an album ... that is until now. With eleven discs behind them, the band chose to go the self-titled route for No. 12, perhaps signifying the union the group feels at this juncture in their career...
