Narrows Vocalist Recaps the Tour That Almost Wasn’t

This past November, the multi-coastal -- and multi-country -- band Narrows pulled off their first East Coast tour, with a few Southern dips in the route, that many (including members of the band) thought was never going happen due to the battles with schedules and the miles that separate members of the hardcore supergroup that features members of Botch, Unbroken, These Arms Are Snakes and Tropics.

Recently, vocalist Dave Verellen caught up with Noisecreep and gave us a recap of how the tour went, as well as relayed some excitement

White Noise: News on Opeth, Devin Townsend, Metallica, Clutch, and More

Some days, writing an intro to this column is easy. Other days, I struggle. Today, there's more than a few topics swimming around in my head I want to talk about. But which one? Do I tell you about today's podcast taping, with Guy Kozowyk from the Red Chord? Do I talk about how I think Lisa Marx is an aesthetic step up from Kristen Randall for Winds of Plague? Or, do I rip apart the dudes I saw at last night's Them Crooked Vultures show? Rather than wear a band's shirt to said band's show (an established concert-going no-no), these dudes actually bought shirts at the show, and then put 'em on. That is worse, right? Do I talk about how much ass th

Doomriders Preview ‘Darkness Come Alive’

Don't be surprised to see less and less of Doomriders in the future, because Cave In -- drummer J.R. Conners' primary band -- have recently ended a three-year hiatus and are planning to record and tour

White Noise: News on Megadeth, Black Dahlia Murder, Faith No More, 3 Inches of Blood and More

A blog posted over at Invisible Oranges this week has us asking this question: Is it possible to love a band but hate their fans? Cosmo Lee wonders in the column if there's some sense of self-loathing involved in hating fans of a band you dig? The column recounts Lee's experience seeing a bunch of no-neck-having, Affliction-donning d-bags leaving a Lamb of God show and shuddered at the thought that he might be just like the posers he was ridiculing. The column got us thinking about all the bands we used to love during the late 1990s (we don't care if that dates us), and how those bands' fan

Stephen Brodsky: Cave In Will ‘Record Before We Tour’

Back in April, Cave In announced their three-and-a-half-year hiatus was over. The news of playing again came along side word of a new vinyl-only EP entitled 'Planets of Old', which the band is also streaming online. Aside from two tracks that are on iTunes, the only places that will be carrying this coveted release are Hydra Head

A Phone Call and an Open Schedule Got Cave In Playing Again

It's been three and a half years since Cave In were a functioning band, yet it feels like it's been 10 years for the die-hard fans who have been dreaming of the announcement that took place back in April: Cave In are back to playing, writing, recording and playing on-stage again. During this span, most just took a deep breath of sadness and assumed the band had brok

Doomriders Don’t Party Like You Think They Do

Despite the strong party vibe of Doomriders' debut album 'Black Thunder,' not to mention the band's raucous, "we're having a good time and we don't give a f*ck" live shows, frontman Nate Newton (who also plays bass in Converge) and his band of merry men don't booze during band practice. "I don't even drink ," Newton told Noisecreep in a recent interview. "I just blew everybody's perceptions, p
