Feel that rumble? There was a seismic response this morning with the announcement of the 2018 Monster Energy Aftershock Festival lineup. The event, which is now in its seventh year, will return to Discovery Park near downtown Sacramento the weekend of Oct. 13 and 14.

This year’s lineup is lead by System of a Down and Deftones. Sitting atop the lineup will be System of a Down, who are firing up the touring machine again just in time for the festival. This will be their first time playing Aftershock and will be their first U.S. appearance in three years. It comes as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut disc.

“Sacto, we’re coming for you. Proud that you’re our capital and not D.C.,” says System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, while guitarist Daron Malakian adds, “It’s been a minute since we’ve played Sacramento, so it just felt right to return by headlining Aftershock.”

Sacramento’s own Deftones will be making their first-ever headline appearance at the event after previously playing the 2012 and 2015 festivals. The show should be a big one for the band, who are playing their first Sacramento headline show in seven years. The performance comes in the band’s 30th anniversary year.

You’ve also got Alice in Chains, Incubus, Godsmack, Shinedown, 311, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, At the Drive In, Seether, Jonathan Davis, Bullet for My Valentine, Underoath, Black Veil Brides, Hellyeah, Asking Alexandria, Sevendust, Everlast, GWAR, Emmure, Stick to Your Guns, Dance Gavin Dance, Monster Magnet, Red Sun Rising, Bad Wolves, The Fever 333, Dorothy, Wage War, Plague Vendor, Hyro the Hero, Amigo the Devil, All Them Witches, Slothrust, The Dose, Viza, The Jacks and more to be announced.

Godsmack’s Sully Erna says, “Sacto!! We can’t wait to be a part of Aftershock this year. Do not miss this show! It’s big, it’s loud and it’s angry … So buckle up, cuz this ride goes reeeeeal fasssst!!! See ya in October!”

And speaking of “real fast,” you’ll want to jump on those tickets, which will be available beginning this Friday (April 13) at 12N PT. You can purchase both standard general admission or VIP tickets and check into hotel options as well via the Aftershock website. Plus, Monster Energy Aftershock will be partnering with GovX to provide ticket discounts for military personnel.
