Suicide Silence Release 360 Degree ‘Doris’ Music Video, Add New Elements to Sound
Suicide Silence having been beating fans down with ultra-low tunings and slamming breakdowns for a full decade now. But with their fifth album, the self-titled Suicide Silence, the deathcore titans have taken a drastic sonic turn, as evident with the new song “Doris,” which can be heard in the 360 degree music video above.
The track opens up with a wah-drenched guitar lead saturated with effects. As frontman Eddie Hermida exclaims, “F–k yeah,” the song kicks into familiar Suicide Silence territory with an earth-heaving, chugging rhythm that switches up going into the verse. The chorus is where the new elements come into play as Hermida adopts a clean vocal timbre that warrants comparison to Deftones frontman Chino Moreno. “Doris” also features a guest vocal spot from Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin.
The video itself shows different angles of Suicide Silence’s performance at Knotfest Mexico from last year with shots from the stage and various clips from different spots in the crowd.
Expressing their excitement for the band in 2017, Suicide Silence collectively said, “From the band to you the fans we hope you had some bad ass, family filled, lovely holidays but now is the time to get what you really wanted and have been waiting for. We got pre-orders, a video and a new track coming right at you! Enjoy our new song ‘Doris’ and go put in your order while packages last! Sui is BACK!”
Again, Suicide Silence will be out on Feb. 24 and pre-orders can be placed at the Nuclear Blast webstore where fans can explore a swath of bundle options.
