A cavalcade of rock's most popular musicians are set to perform together at the 2013 MusiCares Map Fund Benefit, which honors Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington. In the latest update, Guns N' Roses / Velvet Revolver bandmates Slash and Duff McKagan revealed that they have been rehearsing with Stone Temple Pilots, whose new vocalist happens to be Chester Bennington, for a performance at the annual event, which takes place Thursday night (May 30) at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

Both Slash and McKagan, who have been fiercely loyal to each other throughout various band implosions throughout their careers, both tweeted out their excitement for the MusiCares Benefit.

"Had a really cool rehearsal w/ @stpband & @duffmckagan today," tweets Slash. "Sounded really awesome. Great hanging out. Thurs going to be killer. iiii];)'"

McKagan tweets, "The guitar duo of @Slash and D. DeLeo of @stpband is a sweet sound. Me, R. DeLeo, and Krebs just try2 look cool. @ChesterBe SLAYS. #MusiCares"

You can only imagine the Scott Weiland stories that both Velvet Revolver and STP members must have exchanged recently, as both acts famously fired the singer in very public dismissals. Stone Temple Pilots is the most recent act to part ways with Weiland, leading to Bennington's involvement as the band's singer.

During the event, Bennington will be receiving the Stevie Ray Vaughan award for his efforts in helping addicts get clean.
