Steven Tyler Visits the Playboy Mansion for the First Time

The Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp roared back into Los Angeles this past week, as always, allowing campers to learn from rock and roll legends before appearing in concert before a star-studded crowd at some noted venue.

This time around, the event culminated with a show on May 5 at the Playboy Mansion where Steven Tyler served as the lead counselor in charge, meeting with all dozen bands after hearing them each pay tribute by playing an Aerosmith song as the iconic frontman, flanked by Playboy bunnies, watched the show.

Noisecreep had the chance to hang out during rehearsals for the big night, watching as legendary bass player Rudy Sarzo (Whitesnake, Ozzy Osbourne) worked his chosen band into shape before the big night (other counselors working in the camp included Kip Winger, Billy Sheehan, and Vinnie Appice).

Sarzo's band, dubbed Los Mariachis Locos, featured a blend of campers from Mexico and the U.S. and Sarzo led them through Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell', Lenny Kravitz's "Are You Gonna Go My Way" and Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator."

Sarzo told Noisecreep he loved the international flavor of his group this year, and was impressed with the progress they had made in just a few days. And the band was thrilled to be working with the noted bass man, one of rock and roll's truly most respected (and talented) people.

When it came to show time, the band delivered big time - and Tyler seemed to love their version of his tune, raising his hand in salute as they hit the first chorus.

Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp founder David Fishof, whose book Rock Your Business comes out this September, was excited to have Tyler in house the Hef built. "He did this for us a few years ago and I think it had a lot to do with his success on American Idol. I mean, he had never really mentored before, or coached. This experience at the camp seemed to open his eyes to what was possible, and so I am very happy Steven is back."

As for his book, Fishof shared that it will take a lot of what he has learned while running the popular camp and applied it to the business world.

Tyler, who we learned was making his very first appearance at the Playboy Mansion, seemed to have a blast. Attendees were treated to the usual great array of music, including a surprise appearance by Great White's Jack Russell who was called to the stage by Kip Winger for a version of the Rolling Stones' classic single, "Jumping Jack Flash."
