In news that should shock absolutely no one at all, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has officially joined ‘American Idol’ for the reality competition series’ upcoming 10th season. He will sit alongside veteran Randy Jackson and fellow newcomer Jennifer Lopez at the judges’ table. Fox revealed the news today in Los Angeles.

Tyler said that he joined ‘American Idol’ to be “a part of something bigger than yourself.” He also said, “I’m going to bring some rock to this roller coaster.” His bandmate, guitarist Joe Perry — who has been vocal about his displeasure regarding Tyler’s ‘Idol’ courting — will probably be none too thrilled about the news.
