StarkweatherKiller Lyrics: Mottled in bruises and scrapes / Bed of nails where you lay / Pretty on the outside / I hope that serves you well

Philadelphia metalcore band Starkweather have released their fourth album, 'This Sheltering Night', on Deathwish Inc. "'Broken From Inside,' in terms of lyrics," vocalist Rennie Resmini told Noisecreep, "is probably the most underwritten song I've done. Not to slight the theme of those lyrics, but, personally, I don't find anything particularly noteworthy with regard to how they're written. I'd rather not bother commenting. They're self-explanatory."

Though it's nice to have insight into the cryptic nature of a lyricist's words, it's also equally as refreshing for an artist to be honest about his work and not cobble deep meanings out of thin air where they were not originally intended.

"For me, the interesting thing about recording the vocals to the song is multi-tracking the repetitive mantra-like sections without hearing what I was doing," Resmini explained of the recording process for 'Broken From Inside.' "I had to trust Alap [Momin, producer] and Todd [Forkin, guitarist] that the layering was on point. I was telling them it was ridiculous and Alap is insisting that I continue; 'You have no idea how crazy this is sounding. It's like Swans meets the Beach Boys.'"

'This Sheltering Night' was actually recorded in 2007, but it is seeing release through Deathwish Inc. digitally and Hypertension Records physically.
