Chris CornellIt's official! Rumors that freshly-reunited grunge godfathers Soundgarden have booked a live gig in the States meaning a full-on Soundgarden tour -- as have been whispered about since the band first announced it was reuniting back in January -- can't be too far off.

Soundgarden will be one of the headliners of this years Lollapalooza, which will take over Chicago's Grant Park from August 6 to August 8. The band looks to be closing out the festivities and will perform on the final day of the festival. The other nights will be headlined by Green Day and Lady Gaga, respectively.

"We are proud to announce the official launch of Soundgardenworld.com. We will be adding more content in the very near future, so stay tuned," the band wrote in a post on its Web site. "One last thing ... Soundgarden will be one of the headliners at [this year's] Lollapalooza festival. We hope to see you all on August 8 at Grant Park."

Others confirmed for the Lolla bill include Arcade Fire, the Strokes, Social Distortion, MGMT, Hot Chip, Cypress Hill, the New Pornographers, Wolfmother, X Japan, AFI, the Cribs, Minus the Bear, Switchfoot and Frightened Rabbit.
