Veteran rock trio Smile Empty Soul have revealed the track list and album art (seen at left) for their new disc, ‘Chemicals’, along with their upcoming tour dates. This will mark the group’s sixth studio album and their first on their own label imprint, Two Disciples Entertainment.

Regarding their DIY approach, singer/guitarist Sean Danielsen said, “We've been on a different label with every release in our career, and we were tired of not being the priority. We started our own label with a business partner who's been a great friend to us over the last 10 years, and found distribution through some other long-time friends of ours. Now we're running the campaign ourselves and we're totally in control, doing what we feel needs to be done."

Though Smile Empty Soul are basking in their newfound freedom, don’t expect the sound of ‘Chemicals’ to stray too far from the band’s distinctive, hard rock style. "’Chemicals’ still has our signature sound," says Danielsen, "But it has its own feel apart from our other work." He elaborated in a recent interview with The Machine Shop, revealing that the new songs have “a half live, half studio feel” and that the album was recorded in just “a week and a half, so it’s been a crazy ride.”

‘Chemicals’ comes out on Oct. 1, with the song ‘False Alarm’ slated to be the first single. In anticipation of their new album, the band is planning a string of tour dates starting next week (Aug. 19).
