Slipknot to Perform ‘Iowa’ in Full at U.S. Knotfest
It's been 15 years since Slipknot dropped Iowa, one of the most caustic slabs of metal in the new millennium. To celebrate the anniversary of their landmark sophomore effort, the band will be performing the album in full at the U.S. installment of Knotfest in September.
Slipknot made the announcement on their Facebook page, reflecting on the album declaring that it is still a "shockingly physical and ferocious recording." The full statement can be read below.
15 years ago, something quite extraordinary happened. 9 men from 'IOWA' went in to a studio in California and created one of the most chaotic and destructive albums ever made. It was, and still is, a shockingly physical and ferocious recording.
To this day, it has never been performed in its entirety.
That is about to change.
On Sept 25, 2016, at KNOTFEST in San Bernardino, 30,000 people will experience an event that has NEVER been done before. It will be a dense and serious spectacle, both visually and sonically.
But you'll be able to say 'you were there'.
So... Will You Be There?
Hailed as a groundbreaking album, Iowa's churning, malevolent rhythms are whipped around by Joey Jordison's chaotic drumming rounded out by Corey Taylor's venomous lyrics and vein-popping barks mixed with his clean singing approach offering just the slightest reprieve. Fans have been treated to hits like "Left Behind" and "The Heretic Anthem" as concert staples over the years, but now they'll be able to witness all 66 minutes of the album's sonic force.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Ozzfest and Knotfest would be teaming up for Ozzfest Meets Knotfest in San Bernardino, Calif. The event will be held on Sept. 24 and 25 with Ozzfest taking place the first night and Knotfest the second night. Other acts set to perform over the weekend include Black Sabbath, Disturbed, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Amon Amarth, Black Label Society and many more.
