Sleep

Before he was in the earthshaking metal band High on Fire, frontman Matt Pike was pulling the reigns for groundbreaking stoner metal pioneers Sleep, which released the influential 'Sleep's Holy Mountain' (1992) and the posthumous 'Dopesmoker' (2003).

For years, Pike and his former bongmates -- bassist Al Cisneros (Om, Asbestosdeath) and Chris Hakius (Om, Asbestosdeath, the Sabians) -- kept their distance. Then last year, the band reunited in May to perform two reunion sets in England as part of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival. The shows went so well that the band decided to book shows for fall 2010.

The sludge-doom legends will launch their Sleep mini-tour at 2010's All Tomorrow's Parties in New York, which takes place from Sept. 3 to 5 in Monticello, N.Y. There they will play 'Holy Mountain' in its entirety. Also playing the festival will be Iggy and the Stooges, Mudhoney, Sonic Youth and more.

Replacing original drummer Chris Hakius for all shows will be Neurosis drummer Jason Roeder.
