Slayer guitarist Kerry King is an Oakland Raiders fan, which Noisecreep learned after he mentioned that the band would be playing festivals in Australia -- after the NFL playoffs. While the team labored through an abysmal 2009 season, this particular fan is confident that 2010 will bring marked improvement.

"You can't get much worse than the last seven years," King told Noisecreep. "We might squeeze out the division. The AFC West is weak. I am sure everyone in Kansas City, San Diego and Denver hates my guts for saying that. But whatever. I think San Diego will never get over the hump."

King also said he hopes that the NFL doesn't expand the season to 18 games in 2012, citing the beating that players take. "It's so hard for guys to say healthy for the season we have now, so making it 18 games long? I think you will end up diluting the quality with expansion."

Especially since football is a game where one flawed execution of a play can end a man's career. "Look at Troy Polamalu or Brian Urlacher. Those guys make a difference, and when they are injured, it makes a difference on the teams as a whole."

On last month's American Carnage Tour with Megadeth and Testament, King hung out with Testament vocalist Chuck Billy, who is also a big Raiders fan. "We are going to see games when I am off," King said.

King did lament the fact that there is still no football team in Los Angeles -- the number two media market in the country. "L.A. is a fickle market," King said. "But I would go to games if they were here! I went when they were here."

He also admitted, though, that moving an NFL team to Los Angeles isn't necessarily something owners want to do. The idea is being used as more of a power play at this point. "The owners are using L.A. to get bigger money in other cities."
