Slash’s Solo Record to Feature Chris Cornell, Kid Rock, Dave Grohl

By March, former Guns N' Roses and current Velvet Revolver axeman Slash will have his first solo album in stores, and according to one person who has heard material from the LP, "this album is going to be huge."

When Slash initially revealed his plans to release a solo album, the first question fans wondered was who'd handle vocals on the disc. Slowly over time, the answer was revealed: Not just one person, but a whole smorgasbord of well-known rockers and instrumentalists would be backing up the top hat-donning icon. But on Tuesday, the music director for Boston rock station WAAF revealed she's heard some of the new record, and it's awesome.

"Today, I got a chance to hear some of the new Slash album that will be released in March of 2010," the music director writes on her blog. "We should have the new single (which is going to feature Ozzy [Osbourne] on lead vocals) in January. This song was awesome! And the lyrics are going to piss off [Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose] and Black Sabbath."

Other details on the disc? The record will features appearances from former Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell, Kid Rock, Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows, and Black Eyed Peas' Fergie. Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, Red Hot Chili Pepper bassist Flea, Duff McKagan, Alter Bridge's Myles Kennedy and Foo Fighters and Them Crooked Vultures member Dave Grohl.

According to the music director, "Slash wrote the 'blueprint' for the songs with someone specific in mind. Then he asked that person to get involved and help write and record the track. Every song has a bit of Slash and the other musicians in it. Very cool. This album is going to be huge."

Fans can get something of a preview of the disc right now over at YouTube, where Slash's re-imagining of the Guns N' Roses classic 'Paradise City.' The song features Cypress Hill and Fergie on vocals.
