Don't hate: just read.

Slash will appear tonight on 'American Idol.' The former Guns n' Roses and current Velvet Revolver guitarist will mentor the final four hopefuls on all things rock. It is, after all, rock week on 'American Idol' - who better to corrupt the young minds of America than a man as much known for his top hat and stage presence as his mad guitar skills?

While rock fans might be a little uncomfortable with the idea, Slash's friends are definitely on board with the appearance. "Slash going on there... he's such a media darling and an iconic guy – so why not? That definitely lends a sense of occasion and makes it special and certainly brings people of the rock genre into it a little more seriously," says Megadeth bassist James Lomenzo. "He's one of the coolest guys I've probably ever worked with. He's a big rock star in that he lives it, breathes it, is it – but he's one of the most humble dudes. When you go one on one to hang with him – you don't get the sense that he carries any of that with him, until he puts his hat on and grabs his Les Paul. It's the perfect place for him. He's got kids now, he appreciates it all. It seems natural at this stage in the game. I mean, who thought Ozzy Osbourne would be a TV star?"

Slash isn't the only rocker appearing this week. Alice Cooper shredder and former Slash's Snakepit band mate Keri Kelli will also help the would-be 'Idols.' No one knows what Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Danny Gokey and Kris Allen will attempt tonight on the show – but Slash did give a clue to his potential favorite, thanks to the power of Twitter. Slash recently updated, "Those AI kids can sing their asses off, especially Adam."

Get ready to flash your devil horns.

'American Idol' airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on Fox. Tomorrow's results show will feature No Doubt and Daughtry.
