Yesterday (May 24), the legendary Slash busted out his inner Jimi Hendrix by performing the national anthem on guitar at the NHL playoff game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Chicago Blackhawks at the Staples Center in L.A.

The onetime Guns N' Roses axeman rocked a stirring version of 'The Star-Spangled Banner,' electrifying the crowd right before the match (watch above). Slash proved to be a good luck charm for the hometown Kings, who won the game 4-3 and took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference Final.

As mentioned by the P.A. announcer who introduced the guitarist, Slash is getting ready to release his new album with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators this fall.
