Slash, Guitar Center Team Up for ‘Your Next Record with Slash’ Promotion

Legendary shredder Slash has partnered with Guitar Center for the Guitar Center Presents Your Next Record With Slash promotion, where an emerging, unsigned band will have the chance to record a three-song EP with producer Mike Clink, who’s worked with Guns N’ Roses, Mötley Crüe and Megadeth, as well as have Slash write, record and perform on the winner’s single. “I’m really looking forward to discovering a new and talented rock and roll band, and producing something indelible with teeth,” Slash told Noisecreep

Bands can submit music from now through April 30 at The prize package also includes a management development deal with the Collective, who in addition to Slash, also manage Linkin Park and Avenged Sevenfold; the single featured on iTunes; worldwide distribution through Tunecore; a $10,000 Guitar Center shopping spree; gear and endorsement deals from Ernie Ball Music Man; an opening slot on Slash’s Monster Energy Bash; and an editorial feature in Guitar World. Christmas is coming early for axe slingers this year!

In a statement, Slash said, “The formula that used to work for discovering new artists has been decimated and the opportunities for really talented bands to be heard is extremely limited. That’s why it’s so important to me and Guitar Center to provide a situation where new talent can be discovered. This is an incredibly interesting way to find and help launch a really great band that hasn’t been able to get their foot in the door otherwise.”

In other Slash news, his first solo album, ‘Slash,’ is due out in April. He has another promo going, Ernie Ball’s Shred With Slash contest, which features a booty of $50,000 in prizes, such as a master class with Slash, a custom guitar, shopping sprees and other assorted axe treats. Five custom guitar picks in different colors corresponding to different prizes are tucked in select packs of Ernie Ball electric guitar strings which are sold at Guitar Center between now and April 30, as well.
