Sepultura are working on their new album, due out in October via Nuclear Blast. The Brazilian band has enlisted some heavyweights in the metal community to participate, namely former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo, who was only recently relieved of his duties for the thrash legends. They've also reunited with producer Ross Robinson, whose resume includes names like Slipknot and Korn, among countless others. Robinson also produced the band's watershed album 'Roots.'

The new record is currently being tracked in Robinson's California digs. And with that support staff, fans are certainly expecting big things from the Brazilian thrash warriors.

Guitarist Andreas Kisser revealed (quotes via Blabbermouth) that Robinson still has the same guitar cab he used for the gamechanging 'Roots' album. He also revealed that the Lombardo collaboration came about when Robinson had received a text from the skinsman, who was nearby enjoying some time with his kids and dog. Robinson invited him to the studio and the rest, as they say, is Sepulhistory.

"Ross asked if he would like to come to the studio and jam something on our album and he said 'YES!,'" Kisser recalled. "We were so excited, we could not believe that one of our great idols was ready to be a part of our new album. He came and it was so nice, so special, so awesome! He is one of the nicest guys in business and he enjoyed the idea a lot." Kisser also confirmed that the part that Lombardo and Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande recorded "will be a special part on the middle of one of the songs, it came out crazy!"

The guitarist and his mates were beyond stoked about Lombaro's participation, saying, "We just have to thank Mr. Lombardo and his family for this opportunity. Thank you Dave, we will never forget this, it's a real honor to have you on the album!"

While Sepultura are now devoid of any Cavaleras among their ranks, making it feel less like Sepultura, the addition of Dave Lombardo, if even for a part, is reason enough to check it out!
