Septicflesh’s Devastating New Song ‘3rd Testament’ Streaming as Lyric Video

Greece’s Septicflesh are the genuine leaders of the symphonic death metal movement, crafting articulate, nightmare-born opuses like The Great Mass back in 2011. They’ve continued to push the boundaries of marrying these two styles and are continuing down this path on their forthcoming Codex Omega album. With the opening track “Dante’s Inferno” already released, they’ve issued the second song off the record with a lyric video for “3rd Testament.”

The song alternates between a series of snaking chugs and harmonized tremolo-picked melodies that create a gyrating atmosphere, a hallmark of the Septicflesh sound. The orchestral elements create sinister overtones as guitarist Christos Antoniou once again composed all the arrangements which were then performed by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

“As the release date of our new album is getting closer, it is appropriate to introduce you to the song that revolves around the main theme, ‘3rd Testament (Codex Omega).’ So, behold the anti-bible. Listen to the sutras of the 3rd and final book in the divine drama series,” commented guitarist Sotiris V.

Codex Omega (produced by Jens Bogren) will be out Sept. 1 through Prosthetic Records. Pre-orders are available now here where fans can explore digital and physical options. The album will be issued as a 2-CD set, on purple wax vinyl and exclusively at indie retailers in the U.S., on white wax vinyl.
