Ever wonder what some of your favorite late rock stars, like Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, would look like today, had they lived? Well, execs at Sachs Media had that same curiosity, and the company commissioned a series of CGI portraits of several beloved, dead rock stars, with their features aged to show us what they would look like if they were still with us.

Phojoe, a company that creates aged photos for missing persons reports, was hired to use their technology to demonstrate how Cobain and a host of other classic rockers would appear. The series is called 'Rock & Roll Heaven.'

It's obviously artificial graphics but it's certainly an arresting set of images. If someone told us that one of these gone-but-not-forgotten rockers somehow miraculously turned up still alive, and this was a current photo of them, we'd probably believe it.

The collection also features commentary from musicologists who muse about what each artist would have done over the past few decades in a display of heartwarming, educated and fitting fan fiction.

Sachs Media CEO Ron Sachs views this project as as tribute. "Through this series of images, we hope to honor them and evoke some of the magic they brought to millions of their fans, even as we ponder what wonderful new contributions they still could have made," he said in a statement.

It's certainly a bittersweet series of photos, since it reminds us of the talent that we've lost and what could have been.
