Sammy Hagar claims he has been abducted by aliens. The Red Rocker, who is promoting his book 'Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock,' recently spoke to MTV about his experience.

"It was real. [Aliens] were plugged into me," Hagar said. "It was a download situation."

The claim may not shock some long-time 'Van Hagar' fans, as the song 'Why Can't This Be Love' is widely considered to be an ode to alien romance.

In the interview, Hagar also discusses David Lee Roth ("He's not a friendly guy. He's not a nice guy at all."), and the forthcoming Van Halen record ("I heard it's not going so good.")

Check out an excerpt from the interview below. Either Hagar has been drinking too much of his beloved Cabo Wabo tequila, or the singer really has made contact with extra-terrestrial beings.

MTV: Have you ever been abducted by aliens?

Sammy Hagar: I think I have. ... Remember the story in the book, where I have a dream about being contacted by aliens in the foothills above Fontana?

Yeah, yeah, I've got the page right here. "I saw a ship and two creatures inside of this ship... And they were connected to me, tapped into my mind through some kind of mysterious wireless connection." You're telling me that wasn't a dream?

That's right. It was real. [Aliens] were plugged into me. It was a download situation. This was long before computers or any kind of wireless. There weren't even wireless telephones. Looking back now, it was like, "F---, they downloaded something into me!" Or they uploaded something from my brain, like an experiment. 'See what this guy knows.'
