If you are a sucker for rock with hooks and sweet, sweet melodies, then you are sure to be enamored by SafetySuit. In fact, you can go here for a free download of the band's brand new song, 'Get Around This.'

"We love music and people, and when both of those go together," lead singer Doug Brown recently told Noisecreep. The band has a simple philosophy, he said. "Love life, work hard, try to make great records, have even better live shows."

Brown also gave Noisecreep the lowdown on the song 'These Times,' an emotionally and politically charged track from the band's forthcoming second album. Apparently, the song almost didn't make the record because it was written after the album was already completed and studio time had run out.

"This was actually the last song we added to this record," Brown revealed. "As a band, we tend to write a lot about love and loss. We're always open to writing on more socially-focused topics, but a band on a soap box for the sake of being on a soap box just always annoyed me. It has to be genuine and you have to really believe what you're singing about. We're very selective with when and how we go about talking on the heavier side of things. But as we listened back through this record, we had this feeling something was missing. Something else needed to be said."

Rather than rushing back to the studio to try and force things, the band let life dictate their art. "Whenever you feel like something is missing on a record, the worst thing you can do is stay in the studio; if you want to connect with people, you have to go out and live life," Brown said. "So we left the studio and just lived for a little bit. Went grocery shopping, dinner with friends, paid bills, spent time with family, late night conversations, etc. And when we got out of the recording world for a second, we all pretty much ended up on the same page.

"The last few years have been really hard on a lot of people. Jobs have been lost, money is tight, and the future is unclear. But what stuck out the most when we spoke to all these different people was the resolve they all had. This almost defiant, like 'We will get through this.' So we went back in and wrote 'These Times.' The song was inspired by the times that we are living in right now. It talks about all the emotions of someone who is just struggling to get by and how much that uncertainty and insecurity makes you feel like a failure and has you questioning just about everything you've ever done. But then in comes the acknowledgment that 'These times are hard... but they will pass.' I think people need to hear that.

"It's not trying to make up a fairytale world where everything is perfect, but it does focus on that resolve. Hold your head up, don't let it beat you, this will pass. It was a special song for us to write and we hope it is a special song for everyone to listen to. And if you're reading this and times are tough, hold on, they will pass."
