The metal world has gone positively Metallica crazy over these last few months as the band's sensational buildup to the release of Hardwired... To Self-Destruct was met with the album finding the top of the charts in more than 50 countries. The buzz around the world's biggest metal band only continues to grow with an world tour imminent in support of the record.

Loudwire Nights host Toni Gonzalez caught up with bassist Robert Trujillo to discuss Megadeth frontman's Dave Mustaine recent comments about getting the Big 4 back together, as well as when Metallica will be launching their U.S. tour in support of Hardwired.

In a Thanksgiving tweet (seen below) from Mustaine, the former Metallica member and current Megadeth leader expressed enthusiasm for getting the Big 4 (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax) back together for some more shows.

Prior to talking with Trujillo, Toni Gonzalez spoke with Mustaine about his Big 4 tweet. The metal icon expounded on why the timing is right to unite this legendary package, stating, "I think it's great because all four of us have all put out a record in the same 12 month period and again, I think it would be smart for the four of us to go out and do something ... The fans want to see the Big 4, they want to see the 4 of us and that's it."

When the Loudwire Nights host mentioned that to Trujillo, he told her, "The Big 4 tour was really great. We had a great time; it was special and fun and I love Dave. Dave is amazing. Right now, the main focus is we've got this new album and we're going to go out and we're going to tour this and get into these new songs and take this journey right now." He added, "Maybe after we get this sort of out of our system, we can dive into Big 4 mode and try and do that ... I can see doing it again. It was definitely a lot of fun. It makes me feel good that Dave wants to take that journey again."

Keeping his attention on the immediate future supporting Hardwired... To Self-Destruct, Trujillo mentioned May for the launch of Metallica's U.S. tour. The band has been playing scattered dates around the world in recent months, but have yet to announce a full-fledged tour. "We're taking this on the road. We're going to be touring starting around May. We're going to hit the States up," the bass player confirmed.

"We haven't been in the States in a while," he continued, "so in a way we're going to connect with that first. We're going to Asia in January next month and then we're going to take this thing on the road and hit the States and reconnect with our American fans and celebrate Metallica — old music, new music and get out there and kick some ass!"

Rumors had persisted that Metallica would be embarking on a stadium tour in the U.S., which Trujillo seemed to confirm in early November. So far, the band has been confirmed to headline Rock on the Range, taking place May 19-21 in Columbus, Ohio.
