Rise Against, Bad Religion + More Contribute to Tony Sly Tribute Album

No Use for a Name

The track listing for the Tony Sly tribute album has been released and it reads like a roll call of the elite of punk rock. The record, ‘The Songs of Tony Sly: A Tribute,’ is a 26-track compilation honoring the late No Use for A Name singer, who died on July 31, 2012 at the age of 41. All proceeds will benefit the Tony Sly Memorial Fund, which was established for Sly’s widow Brigitte and their daughters.

Rise Against, Bad Religion, Anti-Flag, Pennywise and Alkaline Trio appear, among others. It will be released via Fat Wreck Chords on Oct. 29.

“What I wanted to show on this record is how amazing Tony’s songs are,” said NOFX frontman/bassist and Fat Wreck founder Fat Mike about why this tribute is so special. “You can tell a song is great when it can be done in any style and it’s still great. That’s what this comp is about.”

He continued, “All the bands are doing No Use for A Name songs or Tony Sly songs with their own take. It’s a real tribute to his songwriting … These bands were his closest friends and his favorite bands. I thank all of them for stepping up and showing their love and respect to Tony and his family.”
