Today, Revenge Recordings will release 'We Are Divinity', the debut EP by newcomers Written in Blood. The band starts with the neo-thrastacular grooves of Machine Head, then shakes and stirs the concoction with soaring Dio-style vocals. Noisecreep is psyched to give our readers a taste of 'Your Fortress Falls,' a poignant and provocative track from the new EP. Be sure to listen for the drumming of heavy metal journeyman Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Chimaira), who sat in on drums for the EP.

"I started writing the lyrics to 'Your Fortress Falls' in the summer of 2010, right before moving to North Carolina to start working on some new Written in Blood music," vocalist JD Blood told Noisecreep. "For most of my life I have struggled, but the summer of 2010 was different than anything I've ever had to face. [It] really pushed me to my limits. 'Your Fortress Falls' basically channels the struggles that many of us face each day, whether it be financial problems, loss, homelessness, or poverty, and through it all, being hungry for a better life and pushing forward. It's about getting through whatever obstacles and hardships we face and chasing after our dreams."

The chorus of "As I look into your eyes / Your fortress falls / Your fortress falls" anchors the song. "Basically, it's like you're looking into the mirror but your image is that of a ghost," Blood explained. "Everything you built your world on is going down in flames, but still you find a way to be inspired and push through it all. In life, I have been homeless. I have seen a lot of death, but what keeps me going is the [idea] of realizing a dream, realizing [that] I control my future. It doesn't matter if your world has fallen apart, and you're watching it from outside of yourself. You can still make it better with hard work."

How's that for inspiration? "'Fortress' is a song for the everyday person to pump their fist to in defiance of the hardships they face in their lives," Blood said. "'Fortress' is for the people who want to make their life better. To me, this song is an anthem for the hopeless to have hope and keep their head up! That's the message we want to get across."
