Texas crossover thrash fiends Power Trip have made the leap in 2017, proving themselves to be one of the most devastating live acts to rise from the underground. Their new record, Nightmare Logic, is lean and ripe with knuckle-dragging, pit-frenzied riffs. If you've never seen them in action, get your fix with the music video for "Executioner's Tax (Swing of the Axe)!"

Pairing footage of their frenzied live performances with clips of explosions and like-minded destruction caused from war along with bits of various world leaders, the music video is a perfect reflection of the Power Trip ethos. Lyrically, the song (and the rest of the album) deals with the correlation between money, power, politics and corruption.

Speaking to how the band doesn't wallow in excess when it comes to songwriting, guitarist Blake Ibanez told us, "I always look to make memorable songs and I try to keep the numbers of riffs in each song to a minimum, definitely a quality over quantity thing. We don’t want any filler in there. I’m a pop-oriented guy in terms of songwriting style and I think 'songs' are very important. The main thing is the song, riffs are secondary and if you have both it’s a home run."

The band recently ripped up the Loudwire X Clrvynt showcase in Austin, Texas, tapped as the second night's headliners. See photos from the event here.

Catch Power Trip on their headlining tour with support from Destruction Unit. All stops can be found at the band's Facebook page. Following this run, they'll head to Europe with Napalm Death and Brujeria.
