Poison the WellA wall of girls held onto the barricade Oct. 8. Were they waiting for headliners Billy Talent or just scared of the melodic metalcore men in Poison the Well? Maybe it was a bit of both as frontman Jeffrey Moreira quickly shifted the mood from clean singing to raging hardcore screaming in true PTW style.

All in all, there was a nice pit tucked safely behind the sea of standing Billy Talent fans. A headbanging/dry humping couple was also buried in that mix. I must admit, they made me embarrassed for them.

"I got a story to tell you people," Moreira told the crowd. "We left a little place where we shake our booty called Miami and drove to Detroit." Moreira was telling Gramercy Theater about the 24-hour trip the band took to start the Billy Talent tour. Mid-story, everyone pretty much figured out the vocalist was talking about how all their belongings were robbed from them overnight. Someone from the crowd shouted to Moreira something about the band's van being gone. "You beat me to the punchline honey!"

"We were almost like, 'We don't care if we are b----es, we just want to go home,'" Moreira said of the band's response right after the burglary. Overall, the band was happy to have made it to New York. They used a combination of gear and instruments from the other two bands on the tour.

To lighten the mood, bassist Bradley Grace came to a silly realization mid-set. "I got a question for this dude right here," Grace said while pointing at someone in the front row. "Why didn't you tell me my zipper was open through half the set?!"

While the Billy Talent tour is coming to a wrap, Poison The Well will also tour Australia and Europe through November.
