Noisecreep can't think of a better metal musician to write an autobiography than Phil Anselmo. The singer (Down, Pantera, Superjoint Ritual) has famously struggled with his share of addictions and personal tragedy. That's why we're totally excited for Mouth for War: Pantera, Pain, & Pride - Heavy Metal Highs, Drugged Out Lows, & The Battle for My Life, a new book the singer will be releasing in 2014. Co-written by Corey Mitchell, the book promises "a no-holds barred look inside of Philip's brain, his history with Pantera, the loss of his best-friend, Dimebag Darrell, and an unflinching examination into the downward spiral of pain and drug addiction that nearly cost him his life." With Papa Roach being forced to drop off of UPROAR due to singer Jacoby Shaddix's vocal cord nodule requiring surgical removal to prevent further damage, the tour's main stage schedule will be adjusted to allow longer performances from Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind and Adelitas Way. So that's the silver lining to that rock 'n' roll cloud. [Via Press Release]

Periphery certainly aren't your average metal band. Guitarist Mark Holcomb recently discussed how the band doesn't use amplifiers during live performances, instead choosing to employ a computer system! Don't worry. It's not as "synthetic" as it sounds. [Loudwire]

Death metallers Broken Hope have partnered with ESP Guitars and AllAxess.com for a special signature ESP guitar giveaway at the band's upcoming Sept. 11 show at Gramercy Theater in NYC. Fans can enter the contest at the ban''s merch table at the show, and one signature ESP will go to a lucky winner chosen at random. To honor the 9/11 heroes and those lost, the band is also donating $911 to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum (9/11 Memorial).

"On behalf of BROKEN HOPE, we're humbled and grateful to perform at the Gramercy Theater on 9/11. We're also very excited to give our New York fans a powerful, positive performance and pay tribute to the fallen---we aim to boost everyone's spirits on this day of loss and reflection," stated guitarist Jeremy Wagner. "Big thanks to all Broken Hope fans for coming out this night, and we thank the great city of New York for having us!" [Via Press Release]
