P.O.D. to Perform at NFC Championship Game, Black Veil Brides Sell a Ton of Albums + More News

P.O.D. have landed a high-profile gig. They will perform their song "Higher" during the halftime show at this weekend's NFC Championship game between the Atlanta Falcons and the San Francisco 49ers. The game takes place at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta on Sunday, January 20, at 3PM ET, and determines who will represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. [Via Press Release]

Terror have signed to Victory Records. That's no surprise, since frontman Scott Vogel's former band Buried Alive was signed to VR back in the late '90s. The band will release its sixth album and label debut Live By the Code in April.

"When I was in high school, I would go to Home of the Hits Records in Buffalo, and every week I would check for new Victory releases," Vogel said about his history as a fan of the label.

"Growing up, Victory Records always had the best hardcore bands, period. They had this awesome packaging and vibe that I loved. Integrity, Strife, Snapcase, Earth Crisis -- it was a fucking amazing time for hardcore."

He continued, "Later, I met Tony [Brummel] when he came to Buffalo to see Snapcase. We stayed in contact and made plans for my second band Despair, but soon after we broke up. Victory and my band Buried Alive worked together for years...This summer I hung out with Tony and we had a wild night in Chicago. We talked about the good and bad of hardcore today and just had a blast. No business talk, no nonsense. We were under contract at the time so there wasn't even room for it.

"As we got ready to release Live By the Code, Terror and Century Media debated on how to release the record right and Victory seemed like the best fit. Tony and I are both insane. We both come from the same place. We both scratch and fight to stay afloat. We still believe in the essence of hardcore and still love Warzone. This is pretty fucking exciting."

Vogel also said that the new album is "the dirtiest, rawest and most hardcore record we've done since Lowest of the Low." [Via Press Release]

Former Victory Records band Earth Crisis have signed with Candlelight Records. The straight edge and animal rights pioneers are currently writing and demoing their ninth album. They will record in June. [Via Press Release]

SiriusXM Octane DJ Kayla Riley, along with Live Nation and Ghost Rocket Music, are sponsoring Rock for Recovery, a benefit concert for victims of Hurricane Sandy. The show will feature appearances by Sid Wilson (of Slipknot), Adam Gontier (ex-Three Days Grace), Art of Dying, Hurt, Smile Empty Soul and Edisun.. Rock for Recovery will take place on tonight (Jan. 17) at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City. All proceeds will go to Mercury One Foundation to help those affected by Hurricane Sandy, which ravaged the East Coast in October. Items from ESP Guitars, Affliction Clothing, Live Nation and more will also be available for auction throughout the event. If you're local and available, you should go. Protest the Hero are foregoing a record label for their new album, which'll be their fourth. They are doing it DIY and have opted to raise money to fund the album through an IndieGoGo campaign. The fundraising effort will be active for 30 days, with perks and incentives offered for fans during this time frame and which are exclusive to the IndieGoGo campaign.
