Man Blames Ozzy Osbourne for Drunk Driving Arrest

The Prince of Darkness has been blamed for many things over the years. Things like endorsing suicide and Satan marked Ozzy Osbourne in the headlines during the '80s, as religious right wingers pointed fingers. But according to Aurora, Ohio's William Liston, his charge of driving under the influence on Christmas Eve in the Cleveland suburb of Solon is Osbourne's fault.

The 33-year-old Liston, once arrested after a hit and run, claimed the former Black Sabbath frontman's music drove him mad, telling officers, "Ozzy Osbourne and his music made me do it."

At one point during the evening, Liston forced an SUV off the road. Luckily no one was hurt. Local man Frank Klarich, who called 911, said to Fox 8 News, "His head was bouncing around and he was losing consciousness the whole time he was driving."

This is the second time Liston has been charged with operating a vehicle while impaired. Once arrested a bottle containing at least four different kinds of prescription pills was found in his pocket.

Metal has always been the target of blame; for nearly a decade it was almost as American as apple pie to say the world was ending thanks to black outfits and treacherous guitar solos.

From the famous civil suit against Judas Priest -- claiming back masking messages on the 'Stained Class' album made two people kill themselves -- to the Parents Music Resource Center committee that put Twisted Sister's Dee Snider in front of a senate hearing to defend non-family-friendly lyrics, people will always blame metal for grand problems. But citing a band as the reason why you created havoc on the road is certainly a unique claim, even if it is untenable in court.
