The music industry has changed dramatically the past few years, and many established artists are going the DIY route, recording and releasing albums themselves. The platinum selling band Orgy have decided to go that route, and are asking for help from fans (video posted above).

Orgy are seeking $100,000 via an Indiegogo campaign. Approximately $50,000 will go toward production of the album, with the other half going toward touring and starting a record label. In return for their investment, fans will get perks. The swag gets better the more money that's donated, going from a digital song download for $1 all the way up to a private show for $5,000.

If you want to donate $20,000, Orgy will dedicate the album to you, give you a producer credit and hang out with you for a day, plus you get all the other perk levels. Here's what Orgy hope the impact of the Indiegogo campaign will be:

With your support and backing we can launch Orgy into a national and international name once again. We have more dedication and drive to make this a success than ever before, not only with the music but with the label as well. This will give new bands the opportunity to be heard and succeed as well as Orgy. We just simply can't continue out of our pockets anymore and going after a major label just isn't the right path for us. We ask that you be a part of something new, something big, help revive Orgy and help bring new music to the world.

To hit their goal of $100,000, Orgy must raise an average of $1667 per day for the 60-day duration of the campaign. You can get all the details here.

After Orgy's first two albums went platinum (a million copies shipped) and gold (500,000 copies) respectively, their third album was released independently in 2004 and wasn't as commercially successful. They split in 2005 before vocalist Jay Gordon reformed the group in 2010 with an entirely new lineup.
