Nine Inch Nails headlined the opening night of Lollapalooza in Chicago Friday (Aug. 2), a month and a day before the industrial rock band releases its new album, ‘Hesitation Marks,’ on Columbia Records. Trent Reznor’s ever-evolving NIN lineup opened the 100-minute concert (seen above) with the new track, ‘Copy of A,’ and hit fans with another new one, ‘Came Back Haunted,’ for the third song as well. See full setlist below.

In May, Reznor posted on NIN.com, “I’ve been less than honest about what I’ve really been up to lately. For the last year, I’ve been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly f---ing great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to reassemble a new band and tour again.”

Nine Inch Nails played the very first Lollapalooza back in 1991 when it toured North America; now it is stationed in Chicago and travels to Chile and Brazil as well. Nine Inch Nails had been on hiatus until reactivating earlier this year. The past four years Reznor has been busy with everything from film and video game scores to collaborations with Josh Homme and Dave Grohl on music and with Dr Dre on the digital music service Daisy.

Reznor’s newly assembled lineup of NIN -- which features NIN members Alessandro Cortini and Ilan Rubin from the last stint -- has other summer shows in Europe and the U.K. throughout August. The band has already announced a fall arena tour in North America. Dubbed the ‘Tension’ tour, it launches Sept. 28 in St. Paul, Minn. and ends Nov. 25 in Calgary, Alberta.
