We saw metal dominating the retail shelves once again last week, courtesy of our friends at Metal Insider. On their ninth studio release, corpse-paint slathered Polish black metallers Behemoth enjoyed their chart debut which came with 8,500 units sold in their second week while our favorite O.C.-based rockers Winds Of Plague notched 6,000 units sold on their sophomore release for Century Media. It has been projected that the latest Victory Records releases from both Otep and Emmure would draw between 12,000 and 15,000 sold for their first week in stores. The verdict? We'll just have to see tomorrow. But now, let's dive into what's available for the metal masses this week!

Municipal Waste -- 'Massive Aggressive' -- Earache
Mastering 'The Art Of Partying,' the Richmond, Va. quartet release their follow-up this week on Earache Records. It has 13 thrashy tracks that show no mercy (yes, a little Slayer reference) on the ears of fans worldwide. This is a 'must listen' for fans of classic crossover thrash and speed metal. Municipal Waste has raised the bar yet again in their quest for total thrash domination.

Oh Sleeper -- 'Son Of The Morning' -- Solid State
Bringing you the combined sounds of metal and post-hardcore this week is Ft. Worth, Texas-based band Oh Sleeper, who are introducing their sophomore release. Fans of August Burns Red and A Plea For Purging won't be able to escape 'Son of the Mourning' and its gravitational pull. Oh Sleeper hold nothing back when it comes to their religious beliefs, and they are not afraid to kick up their metal heels, either.

Advent - 'Naked And Cold' - Solid State
Advent, comprised of members of Beloved, describe 'Naked and Cold' as the "older, more abrasive brother" to their debut release 'Remove The Earth.' And rightfully so, as it's packed with more grit and breakdowns. It's obvious why Advent recently toured with the likes of Reign Supreme and Shai Hulud; they're sonic compadres. Don't forget to check this album out this week.

Tenet -- 'Soverign' -- Century Media
Jed Simon (formerly of Strapping Young Lad) serves as the mastermind behind this latest release, and he recruited some of the best talents that the thrash/metal scene has to offer. We're talking Gene Hoglan of Death, Dark Angel and Zimmer's Hole fame and Steve Souza of Exodus. It's an all-star cast that has been arranged, from music to the artwork, in their debut release. Hey thrashers, looks like Christmas came a little early this year.

Various Artists -- 'Halloween II Soundtrack' -- Hip-O
Some of us may agree to disagree about to whether this is actually a metal release, but with tracks from the likes of Foghat, MC5, and Motörhead, we think it's safe to say that this is a soundtrack worth checking out, to say the least. As if the soundtrack contributors aren't already enticing enough, the movie itself was written and produced by the horror/shock metal man himself Rob Zombie. The slasher flick will be out in theaters this week, so don't miss out on that, either.
