Necronaut is the solo project of Fred Estby, who drummed for legendary Swedish death metallers Dismember. Artist Chet Zar created a piece some time ago named 'Warlock,' which was used as the cover for Estby's release. "The 'Warlock' painting was created in 2006," Zar told Noisecreep. "As with most of my work, there is really no explicit meaning to it. I paint from my gut and follow my own aesthetic intuition. 'Warlock' remains one of my more popular pieces to this very day."

Like Estby, who is trying his hand at a different type of heavier music than before, Zar also doubles as a makeup artist for film productions. His handiwork can be seen in such high-profile films as 'The Ring' and 'Planet of the Apes.'

For the Necronaut project, Estby enlisted a horde of guest musicians to fill in the sonic slots. Most notable are vocalist Hellbutcher from Nifelheim, who offered vocals on the track 'In Dark Tribute' and David Blomqvuist of Dismember lending guitar work on 'After the Void.'

'Necronaut' is out now on Regain Records.
