While Slipknot remain in limbo, fans of aggressive masked metal bands might take solace in knowing that Mushroomhead will release their seventh album, 'Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children,' on Sept. 28 from Megaforce Records.

The album, the follow-up to 2006's 'Savior Sorrow,' was produced by co-founding drummer Steve 'Skinny' Felton and mastered by Roger Lian at Masterdisc in New York City. The original title of 'Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children' was 'Slaughterhouse Road,' but the band recently changed it.

The first single, 'Come On,' will debut on rock radio in August. "This [song] is going to surprise people by being very melodic, yet with a crushing undertone," said Felton. "It feels really good this time around. The album is less ambient and heavier, yet retains that creepy Mushroomhead dynamic."

Added keyboardist Schmotz: "Mushroomhead never draws a line without blurring it first."
