We’ve got a fantastic health update from legendary Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. Having imbibed a tremendous amount of alcohol, cigarettes and speed throughout his career, Lemmy is starting to live a much healthier life. The frontman was forced to step back from his hard-partying ways in 2013 due to serious health issues, and in a new interview, Lemmy discusses the details of his lifestyle change.

Lemmy had a hell of a ride in 2013. Motorhead released the excellent ‘Aftershock’ last year while performing gigs worldwide. However, Lemmy was also fitted with an implantable defibrillator and was forced to cancel gigs due to a hematoma. At Wacken 2013, Motorhead was forced to cut their set short after Lemmy suffered from exhaustion, but the iconic frontman is looking forward to what’s to come this year, drastically altering his lifestyle to attain those goals.

On his time off from the road, Lemmy has begun a regimen of riding an exercise bike every day, seriously cutting back on his alcohol intake and cutting down his cigarette habit from two packs of Marlboro Reds a day to just one or two cigarettes a day. “Let’s face it – it isn’t as much fun,” Lemmy admitted to Rolling Stone while out at the Rainbow Bar & Grill in Los Angeles. “But it can’t be as much fun if I die. I don’t believe that’s much fun, either.”

“I suddenly realized I was waking up in pools of other people’s vomit, and I had no recollection of them,” Lemmy reminisces. “That’s a bit much. I’m not saying don’t have fun, don’t snort the occasional line – but don’t make it your life.”

Lemmy also praised his fans for their continuing support of the rock legend’s health. “Oh, man, the kids were unbelievable when I got sick,” Lemmy says. “No bitching. It was all ‘Take your time, get better. Don’t worry, we’ll wait for you. Get well.'”
