It's going to be a big night for Motorhead at the 2013 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards. Not only will the band headline this year's performances, but they've been chosen to receive the night's top honor, the 'Golden God,' which celebrates their contributions to the worlds of rock and metal.

Motorhead follow in the footsteps of such past recipients of the award as Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie. The band has cranked out 20 studio albums, beginning with their self-titled 1977 debut. In addition, frontman Lemmy Kilmister has become an icon in the industry and was even the subject of a well-received self-titled 2010 documentary.

In recent years, the group has been promoting two volumes of live DVDs under the moniker 'The World Is Ours.' They reportedly started work on a new studio album earlier this year.

The Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards will take place June 17 at London's Indigo2. In addition to Motorhead, the night will feature performances from Airbourne, Five Finger Death Punch, Coal Chamber and Paradise Lost. The show will also stream live via PlayStation.
