It's a busy time for Stryper frontman Michael Sweet! Not only is the band's 2013 disc 'No More Hell To Pay' doing well, but Sweet is also prepping for a new solo album and book. Getting a jump on the new disc, Sweet is premiering the lyric video for 'The Cause' via Loudwire and Noisecreep (watch above).

The new track is an uplifting one, starting with a slow build before kicking in with additional guitar after the first few stanzas. The lyric video starts simply enough, with white and black type face words appearing on the screen, but once the song gets going the backing is anything but plain.

Sweet's spine-tingling high notes are bolstered by the pure beauty of majestic landscapes, sunrises and sunsets adding to the inspirational perspective of the song. The track features such big picture lyrics as, "Oh / We have a soul / We have a heart that we can show / We're here for the cause / It's bigger than life / This one we know."

The singer says of his continued career, "After 30 years in this business, I feel honored and blessed to be able to continue doing what it is I love, making music. I’m extremely thankful to have some of the greatest fans in the world. The Lord has blessed me with this talent and I plan to continue on this path as long as God wants me to.”

'The Cause' can be found on Sweet's new solo album, 'I'm Not Your Suicide,' due May 6. The disc also features contributions from TNT's Tony Harnell, DC Talk's Kevin Max, Fozzy's Chris Jericho, Whitesnake's Doug Aldrich, Dave Mustaine's daughter Electra Mustaine, drum great Kenny Aronoff and his Stryper bandmates Robert Sweet and Timothy Gaines. Sweet's autobiography, 'Honestly: My Life and Stryper Revealed' is also set to arrive on May 6.
