According to a 93.7 KCLB Rocks! Radio with bassist Robert Trujillo, Metallica hope to once again call on the "Zen guru spirit" and production talents of bearded super-producer Rick Rubin, who oversaw the band's last album, 2008's 'Death Magnetic.'

Rubin, who has worked with everyone from Neil Diamond to Justin Timberlake to The Beastie Boys to Slayer to Slipknot, is known for his deft hand with material that is already of the highest quality. Trujillo told a radio station in California that the band loved their time with Rubin, saying the producer has what the band needs right now.

The bassist also said the band is getting along just fine and has already constructed a bunch of riffs. With Rubin in the picture, the rocker said, "it's only gonna get better."

No word on when Metallica will commence the recording process.
